Thinking outside the textbook.
Our education system today supports learning mostly in classrooms and from textbooks, and how we assess learning focuses too much on what has been learned after the fact and not enough on improving learning in the moment. Students’ lives outside school are filled with technology that gives them mobile access to information and resources 24/7, enables them to create multimedia content and share it with the world, and allows them to participate in online social networks and communities where people from all over the world share ideas, collaborate, and learn new things. Inside the classroom, however, none of these resources are utilized and therefore students are less than interested. True learning takes place when students are engaged, working within their skill sets, and utilizing tool and resources that they have mastered. This is what education 360 is all about, improving learning by utilizing tools and resources students use in their everyday lives and engaging students by providing new and interactive ways to learn the traditional lessons.
